Uncanny Valley: Consider The Source – Purple Flavor

Here’s another free song for download from my new album, Consider The Source.  It will be available on Tuesday, May 18th.  I’ll be posting additional information soonly.

This track, entitled “Purple Flavor” is a cosmic synth jam grounded by a massive Big Beat break and a heavy laser bass melody.  For those that don’t know – I love me some synth and you’ll hear them all over the new record.  I’ve been known to get lost in patches, turning knobs until I hit diminishing returns…”Idle hands are the devil’s workshop”…so they say.  This was another track that really came together in the final stages of production.  The sinewous lead synth ended up working as a nice counterpoint to the percolating space chimes.

The song was inspired by the synthesis work that’s commonly heard on Prog, New Wave, and Electronic records from the mid-to-late 70’s.  Im a huge fan of Malcom Cecil and I think his influence is audible in many of my songs.  They had such great tones on those albums and this was my attempt at recreating some of those sounds.  Consider The Source, as a whole, features a ton of keys.  You’ll hear Grand Piano, Moog, Rhodes, Hammond, Arp, Farfisa and a few that I can’t name because their origins are unknown.

You can download the track here.  It includes a 320k version, the artwork for the single and some notes.  This song goes well with a pair of Blue Blockers and a mid-afternoon bike ride in the sun.  As always, thank you for listening – and thank you for the continued support.

“…you better believe it, star-buddy!”
