Uncanny Valley: Consider The Source

It’s true.  The new album, Consider The Source, is finally done!  It’s long overdue (for too many reasons to mention), but it will finally be released on May 18th.  I’ll be posting more info in the coming days and weeks.  Until then, here’s a free song for download….

This track, entitled “Idle Argument” is an organ-driven psych burner.  It was my attempt at writing a “melt-yr-face-off” kinda song in the style of Goblin or a heavier, dirtier version of Lesiman.  Pounding drums, 60’s style short-scale bass, tremolo fuzz madness, and a healthy dose of Space Echo.  Add some horn bursts, some trippy ethereal vocals….slather on the magma-laden organ and BAM, it’s done!!!

In all honesty it really didn’t happen that fast.  It was a demo for well over two years and really came together within the last few weeks of finishing the album.  Joining me on the track are Kevin Robinson (Viva Voce, Blue Giant) on bass and Sebastian Bibb-Barrett (Federale) on trumpet.  Infinite thanks to them both for helping me bring this track to life.

You can download the track here.  It includes a 320k version, the artwork for the single and some notes.  Thank you for listening.  I hope you enjoy it with some friends.

Keep on, Keepin’ on

This is what I’ve been waiting for from PJ. This track is outstanding, we’ve been bumping in the office all day. Great track to work, chill, dance, inspire and get physical aka sweating to the oldies to.

Great job, and time well spent on this next album. One of Portland’s finest.

Brilliant, triumphant, spooky, and for some reason yet unknown to me polar bears, were words that came to my mind on the first listen. Can’t wait to hear the rest!
