“The Karate Williams Diaries” by Quiet Countries

Leb Borgerson, aka Quiet Countries, recently released a new album called “The Karate Williams Diaries”.  The album is built upon haunting melodies, emotive atmospheric loops and fractured beats.  With the exception of a few vocal cuts it mainly revolves around instrumental tracks.  A guest appearance from Portland wordsmith, A.E.D., and some additional vocals from Leb rounds out the album’s 10 songs.  What initially struck me about his work was the creative use of sampling and the expertly programmed drums.  “The Karate Williams Diaries also happens to feature a number of drum samples from Bridgetown Breaks.  It’s always exciting to hear how other artists have incorporated BTB into their work and when asked about its inclusion Leb responded, “Bridgetown Breaks gives you access to the minds, limbs and kits of some of Portland’s best drummers and all you have to do is buy a record.”.  Well said and a fine example of reciprocal awesomeness.  Check out his site and listen to more tracks here.
