I’ve been a huge fan of both Jazz Mutant and Ableton for a while now. This new collaboration looks like it could be a massive leap forward in the quest for software/hardware harmony. Seamless integration and no MIDI mapping!

Though I can’t help but wonder if somebody will hack the iPad and do the same thing at a fraction of the cost…?

Here’s a great piece from The Observer featuring Brian Eno. I particularly enjoyed the bit about his take on hindsight:

“Instead of shooting arrows at someone else’s target, which I’ve never been very good at, I make my own target around wherever my arrow happens to have landed. You shoot your arrow and then you paint your bulls eye around it, and therefore you have hit the target dead centre.”

Here’s a behind-the-scenes vid with another one of my Top 5 favorite MCs, Mos Def (who was also featured in the previous post). It’s always refreshing to see/hear interviews where the artist is allowed to expand upon the creative process…versus a radio spot or TV appearance where they’re expected to just hype a new album. Understanding what drives them, what inspires and motivates them is always more interesting and adds meaning to the relationship the listener makes with the artist.

Here’s to 2010. Best to all of you out there in the World Wide Internets.

Whoa! Check out this new product from Teenage Engineering. It’s a stand-alone synthesizer. It’s a compact USB controller. It’s portable, has an internal battery and contains a top-secret sequencer that’s being touted as “truly unique”. The release date is pending, but they’re saying Spring 2010. Looks rad!
