iPad as a Midi Controller for Ableton Live…

The speed at which technology moves is mind-boggling.
Here’s the first crack at adapting the iPad for touch control of software.

Im sure there will be a flurry of apps/hacks in the coming weeks/months.

Mu - Ableton Live controller for the Lemur

I’ve been a huge fan of both Jazz Mutant and Ableton for a while now. This new collaboration looks like it could be a massive leap forward in the quest for software/hardware harmony. Seamless integration and no MIDI mapping!

Though I can’t help but wonder if somebody will hack the iPad and […]

Teenage Engineering: OP-1

Whoa!  Check out this new product from Teenage Engineering.  It’s a stand-alone synthesizer.  It’s a compact USB controller.  It’s portable, has an internal battery and contains a top-secret sequencer that’s being touted as “truly unique”.  The release date is pending, but they’re saying Spring 2010.  Looks rad!  Here’s some more specs:
8 synthesizer models

Wacom: Nextbeat NXT-1000

So I’ve been kicking around the idea of trying to turn my Wacom intuos3 graphics tablet into an audio performance instrument.  Something like a stylophone or maybe just load up a loop and freak the pitch & time.  Anyone out there who’s done that?  Share your wizardry and I’ll give you some free records.  Cool?  […]

Wow.  They finally did it!  This could be the ultimate hybrid workstation.  I’ve always been impressed by Native Instruments’ products, but this one kinda blew my mind.  It’s like an MPC on hGH!  You get the direct tangible work surface with all the flexible benefits of software.  I want one!  Peep it here.
The software/plug-in:

The hardware:

Akai APC40 and MOTU BPM

Two new products that look pretty interesting…
Akai APC40: a fully customizable dedicated control surface designed for use with Ableton Live…strangely resembling some of the trademark characteristics of the monome.

For details and specs click here.
MOTU BPM: an MPC style virtual instrument with integrated step sequencer designed to make your beats more slamtastic.  Also interesting is the […]

LinnDrum II

Roger Linn.  A pioneering figure in the world of electronic music.  As important to Hip Hop as the artists who created it.  Without the MPC where would we be?  One thing is certain.  We would not have the technological innovations that inspired so many artistic breakthroughs.  The evolution of electronic music has always been directly […]
